What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a specialized metal surface cleaning process predominantly applied after metal formation. During pickling, the metal undergoes a cleansing interaction with an acid, known as pickling liquor, tailored for the metal type being treated. Typically, low alloy steels use hydrochloric acid. For metals with high acid resistance, either a stronger acid or a dual-stage pickling method might be necessary to achieve superior cleaning efficacy.
How is pickling performed?
Initially, the metal is rinsed with a solution to dislodge large debris and dirt. Post-rinsing, it is submerged in the pickling liquor bath, where the acid diligently works to eliminate surface impurities. Adhering to a predetermined immersion duration is crucial to avoid overexposure. When performed with the ideal pickling liquor and precise timing, surface imperfections are effectively eradicated with minimal metal attrition. Following its extraction from the liquor, the metal is rinsed anew and often proceeds to an oiling process for enhanced finish and protection.
The Application of pickling steel
1,Automotive industry applications encompass: automotive chassis systems, comprising girders and auxiliary beams; wheels, featuring rims and spokes; cockpit panels; carriage bases for diverse truck models; and other stamped components like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various interior car parts.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automotive) applications include textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and assorted general machinery components. Examples include compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and containers for chemical oils.
3, Additional applications extend to bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical enclosures, highway guardrails, supermarket shelving, warehouse racks, fencing, iron ladders, and a diverse range of stamped metal forms.
