The difference between Q235A and Q235B.
The distinction between Q235A and Q235B carbon steels lies primarily in the carbon content as specified by the national standard GB700-88. Q235A material possesses a carbon content ranging from 0.14% to 0.22%. This subtle difference influences their applications and performance.
Typically, steel mills attach identification plates on finished profiles before they are dispatched from the factory. These plates enable users to verify whether the material is Q235A, Q235B, or another type entirely. The design parameters include a pressure P≤1.6MPa, an operating temperature range from 0 to 350ºC, and a steel plate thickness of at least 20mm.
