What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning technique primarily employed post-metal formation. This process involves exposing the metal to an acid solution, known as pickling liquor, which effectively purifies its surface. The choice of acid varies, tailored to the specific metal type; commonly, hydrochloric acid is used for low alloy steels. For metals with higher acid resistance, stronger acids or a two-step pickling approach may be necessary to achieve optimal cleansing results.
How is pickling performed?
Initially, the metal is rinsed with a specialized solution to eliminate large dirt particles. This preparatory phase ensures optimal results when subsequently submerged in the pickling liquor bath. During immersion, the acid efficiently eradicates impurities from the metal's surface. It is crucial to adhere to a specified immersion duration to avoid overexposure. With the right pickling liquor and appropriate immersion timing, surface imperfections are meticulously removed, minimizing metal loss. Post-pickling, the metal undergoes another rinse before proceeding to an oiling process, enhancing its finish and durability.

It also includes cockpit panels and the base of various truck carriages. 2, Machinery industry (excluding automotive) applications are broad, encompassing textile and mining machinery, fans, and general machinery components.
