The raw material billets used to produce channel steel are carbon-structured steel or low-alloy steel billets containing no more than 0.25% carbon. The final product is delivered in a hot-formed, normalized, or hot-rolled state. Its dimensions are specified in millimeters as waist height (h) * leg width (b) * waist thickness (d); for example, 100*48*5.3 denotes a waist height of 100 mm, leg width of 48 mm, and waist thickness of 5.3 mm, referred to as 10# channel steel. For channels sharing the same waist height, variations in leg widths and waist thicknesses are distinguished by adding a, b, or c to the model number, such as 25#a, 25#b, 25#c, etc.
