What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a sophisticated surface cleaning technique employed predominantly after metal forming operations. This process involves immersing metal into an acid bath, termed as pickling liquor, which is carefully chosen based on the type of metal being treated. For instance, low alloy steels typically require hydrochloric acid. In cases where metals exhibit high resistance to acids, a more potent acid or a comprehensive two-step pickling procedure is applied to ensure thorough cleaning and achieve pristine results.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to eliminate large dirt particles and debris from the metal surface. Subsequently, the metal is submerged in a pickling liquor bath, allowing the acid to meticulously cleanse the surface impurities. It is crucial to adhere to a precise immersion time to prevent excessive acid exposure. The effective combination of appropriate pickling liquor and optimal immersion duration ensures the removal of surface discontinuities with negligible metal loss. After extraction from the bath, the metal undergoes a final rinse. Often, this is followed by an oiling process to enhance protection.
The Application of pickling steel

2, Machinery industry applications (excluding automotive) encompass textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and a range of general machinery components. This includes compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Applications extend to other sectors including bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket shelves, warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and an array of uniquely shaped stamping parts.
