The difference between Q235A and Q235B steels lies primarily in their carbon content, as defined by the national standard GB700-88. With Q235A featuring a carbon content range of 0.14-0.22%, both are categorized as carbon steels, yet they exhibit distinct material properties based on this carbon variation.
Typically, steel mills will mark the finished profiles on identification plates before dispatching them. Users can determine whether the material is Q235A, Q235B, or another type by examining these plates. These materials are suitable for use under design pressure P≤1.6MPa, temperatures ranging from 0 to 350ºC, and come in steel plate thicknesses of 20mm or more.
