What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a specialized metal surface cleaning process typically employed after metal forming. This meticulous cleaning method involves immersing the metal in a potent acidic solution known as pickling liquor, effectively stripping away surface impurities. The choice of acid is tailored to the specific metal type: for most low alloy steels, hydrochloric acid is preferred. For metals exhibiting high acid resistance, more robust acids or a two-step pickling process may be required to attain immaculate cleanliness.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with rinsing the metal in a solution to eliminate large dirt particles and debris. Subsequently, the metal is submerged in a pickling liquor bath where the acid dissolves surface contaminants. A precise immersion time is critical to prevent damage from overexposure. With the appropriate pickling liquor and carefully monitored immersion duration, surface imperfections are seamlessly removed with minimal metal loss. Post-pickling, the metal undergoes a final rinse and often enters an oiling phase to ensure protection.

1,Automotive industry applications include: robust automotive chassis systems such as girders and auxiliary beams; wheels encompassing rims and spokes; cockpit panels; and carriage elements, notably the undersides of various truck carriages. Additional uses cover anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various essential small interior parts.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) covers a spectrum of equipment such as textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery. It includes components like compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Other applications span bicycle parts, diverse welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket shelves, warehouse shelving, fences, iron ladders, and stamping parts in assorted shapes.
