What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning technique, typically applied after metal formation. This process involves immersing metal in a specialized acid solution called pickling liquor. The choice of acid depends on the metal type, with hydrochloric acid as the standard for most low alloy steels. For metals that resist standard acids, stronger acids or a two-step procedure might be necessary to achieve optimal cleanliness.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with a preliminary rinse to clear away dirt and debris. The metal is then submerged in a pickling liquor bath. The acid effectively cleans the metal surface by dissolving the impurities. After the prescribed immersion period, the metal is carefully extracted to avoid overexposure. Using the right acid and timing ensures the elimination of surface irregularities with minimal metal degradation. The metal undergoes a final rinse post-pickling, often followed by an oiling procedure to enhance surface protection.
The Application of pickling steel

Additional uses encompass stamping parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various car interior components.
2, Machinery industry applications (excluding automotive) cover textile machinery, mining machinery, and general machinery components like compressor shells, brackets, and water heater liners, as well as chemical oil drums.
3, Other applications encompass bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and an assortment of stamped parts.
