What is Q235B steel?
Q235B steel plate is a versatile type of low carbon steel, precisely defined by the national standard GB/T 700-2006 'Carbon Structural Steel'. Renowned as one of China's most frequently used steel products, Q235B is economically advantageous and widely employed in applications where high performance is not a necessity.
The difference between Q235A and Q235B.
Distinguishing Q235A from Q235B lies in their classification as carbon steels per the national standard GB700-88. The differentiation primarily concerns the carbon content, where Q235A comprises 0.14-0.22% carbon.
Typically, steel mills will mark finished profiles on identification plates prior to dispatch. This allows users to identify whether the material is Q235A, Q235B, or another variant. These materials are designed for use under conditions of design pressure P≤1.6MPa and temperatures ranging from 0 to 350ºC, with a steel plate thickness of at least 20mm.
