The difference between Q235A and Q235B is primarily rooted in their carbon content, as both are categorized as carbon steels. According to the national standard GB700-88, Q235A boasts a carbon content ranging from 0.14-0.22%, which distinguishes it from Q235B.
Typically, steel mills inscribe the type of steel on identification plates before the products exit the factory. Users can easily determine if the material is Q235A, Q235B, or another variant by checking the identification plate. These steels are suitable for applications with design pressure P≤1.6MPa, operating temperatures between 0~350ºC, and steel plate thickness of 20mm or more.
