What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a highly effective metal surface cleaning process, predominantly utilized post-metal forming. This essential method involves the thorough cleansing of metal surfaces through exposure to an acid solution, aptly termed pickling liquor. The specific acid composition varies depending on the metal type; for instance, hydrochloric acid is generally employed for low alloy steels. For metals exhibiting significant acid resistance, a more potent acid or a dual-step pickling process might be necessitated to achieve optimal cleanliness.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with a meticulous rinse to clear away substantial dirt and debris. Post-rinsing, the metal is submerged in a bath of pickling liquor, where the acid diligently works to strip impurities from the surface. Adhering to a predetermined immersion time prevents overexposure to the acids, ensuring efficient impurity removal with minimal loss of metal mass. Upon extraction from the pickling bath, the metal undergoes another rinse. This is typically followed by a protective oiling treatment, enhancing its surface integrity.
The Application of pickling steel
1,Automotive industry applications include: automotive chassis systems such as girders and auxiliary beams; wheels, including rims and spokes; cockpit panels; and truck carriage bases. Additional uses are found in various stamped parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and other interior car components.
2, Machinery industry applications (excluding automotive) encompass a range of equipment, including textile and mining machinery, fans, and general machinery components. It is also used in the manufacture of compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, other applications cover bicycle parts, a variety of welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and an array of stamped parts with diverse shapes.
