What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning technique, predominantly applied after metal forming processes. It involves immersing the metal in an acid solution known as 'pickling liquor,' which cleanses the metal surface meticulously. The specific acid in the pickling liquor is selected based on the type of metal, with hydrochloric acid being commonly used for most low alloy steels. For metals exhibiting high resistance to acids, a more potent acid or a dual-step pickling approach is employed to ensure effective cleaning.
How is pickling performed?
Initially, the metal undergoes a thorough rinse to eliminate substantial dirt and debris. Subsequently, it is submerged in a pickling liquor bath, where the acid actively dissolves surface impurities. Once the metal reaches a pre-determined immersion duration, it is extracted to avoid excessive acid exposure. By selecting the optimal pickling liquor and immersion period, surface imperfections are efficiently eradicated with minimal metal wastage. Post pickling, the metal undergoes another rinse before often proceeding to an oil treatment process, enhancing the surface's protective qualities.

2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) applications cover textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and other general machinery components. These include compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Diverse applications extend to bicycle components, a variety of welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and myriad forms of stamped parts.
