What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process often employed after metal shaping. This technique involves immersing metal in a specialized acid, known as pickling liquor, to cleanse its surface. The composition of the pickling liquor varies depending on the metal; however, for most low alloy steels, hydrochloric acid is typically used. For metals with high acid resistance, a more potent acid or a dual-step pickling process may be required to achieve optimal cleanliness.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with a preliminary rinse to eliminate significant dirt and debris. The metal is then submerged in a bath of pickling liquor, where the acid methodically purges surface impurities. To prevent overexposure, metals are removed after a predetermined immersion period, ensuring minimal metal loss while effectively eradicating surface imperfections. Following this, the metal undergoes a final rinse and often proceeds to an oiling stage.

2, Machinery industry applications (excluding automobiles) cover a broad spectrum, including textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery components like compressor shells, brackets, and water heater liners. The chemical sector uses them for oil drums.
