What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process, prominently employed after metal shaping. This meticulous method involves immersing metal in a specially formulated acid solution, known as pickling liquor. The choice of acid in this solution varies according to the metal type being treated; however, for most low alloy steels, the preferred acid is hydrochloric acid. In cases where metals exhibit significant resistance to acids, either a stronger acid or a two-step pickling process is implemented to ensure optimal cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with a preliminary rinse to eliminate large particles of dirt and debris. Post-rinsing, the metal is then submerged in a bath of pickling liquor. During immersion, the acid diligently cleanses the surface by eradicating impurities. Once the stipulated immersion duration is achieved, the metal is extracted promptly to avoid overexposure to the acid. By employing the appropriate pickling liquor and adhering to precise immersion timings, surface imperfections are effectively removed with minimal metal loss. After extraction, the metal undergoes a final rinse and is often subjected to a subsequent process known as oiling.

2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) applications extend to textile machinery, mining machinery, and general machinery parts like fans. Pickling steel is indispensable for pieces such as compressor shells, brackets, and water heater liners, along with chemical oil drums.
3, other bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket shelves, warehouse shelving, fences, iron ladders, and stamping parts of diverse shapes also utilize pickling steel solutions.
