What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an advanced metal surface cleaning process, predominantly utilized post metal formation. It involves a transformative interaction between the metal and an acid, termed as pickling liquor. The choice of acid is tailored to the specific metal; for most low alloy steels, hydrochloric acid is preferred. However, for metals exhibiting high resistance to acids, a more potent acid or a sophisticated two-step pickling method is employed to ensure impeccable cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to eliminate substantial dirt and debris from the metal surface. Following this cleansing step, the metal is submerged in a pickling liquor bath, where the acid acts meticulously to dissolve surface impurities. Precise control over immersion duration is critical to prevent acid overexposure and ensure minimal metal loss. Once the desired level of cleanliness is achieved, the metal is retrieved and subjected to a final rinse. This is often succeeded by an oiling procedure to enhance surface quality and protection.
The Application of pickling steel

The carriage focuses on the underbody of various trucks. Additional components involve anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and intricate car interior parts.
2, Machinery industry applications (excluding automobiles) cover a broad spectrum, including textile machinery, mining machinery, and general machinery such as fans. Other components include compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Diverse applications also include bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and an array of stamping parts.
