What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process, predominantly utilized post-metal formation to achieve pristine metal surfaces. This process involves immersing the metal into a specialized acid solution known as pickling liquor. The composition of this pickling liquor varies depending on the metal type, with hydrochloric acid commonly used for most low alloy steels. In cases where metals exhibit high resistance to acids, a more potent acid or an advanced two-step pickling method may be necessary to attain the desired level of cleanliness and surface quality.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to eliminate any large particles of dirt and debris from the metal surface. After this pre-cleaning, the metal is immersed in an acid bath known as pickling liquor. The acidic nature of the bath effectively dissolves surface impurities, smoothing and cleaning the metal. It's crucial to monitor immersion time to avoid excessive exposure, which could result in unwanted metal degradation. By selecting the appropriate pickling liquor and controlling the immersion duration, impurities are efficiently removed, preserving the metal's integrity. After withdrawal from the pickling bath, a subsequent rinse is performed, commonly followed by an oiling procedure to further condition the metal surface.

2, Machinery industry (excluding automotive) applications span across textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery parts. This includes compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Diverse applications include bicycle components, a variety of welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, iron fencing, ladders, and an array of stamped parts in different configurations.
