What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential process in the realm of metal surface treatment, particularly post metal forming. It involves cleansing a metal surface by immersing it in an acid solution known as pickling liquor. The choice of acid varies, typically using hydrochloric acid for most low alloy steels. However, for metals with high acid resistance, a more robust acid or a dual-step pickling procedure may be necessary for optimal cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to eliminate large dirt particles from the metal. Subsequently, the metal is submerged in a bath of pickling liquor, where the acid acts to eradicate surface impurities. Timing is crucial, as the metal must be removed at a specific point to prevent acid overexposure. With precise adherence to the correct pickling liquor and immersion duration, surface imperfections are effectively eradicated with minimal metal erosion. After pickling, the metal undergoes a final rinse, often followed by oiling to enhance surface protection.
The Application of pickling steel

Further, it supports the production of stamping parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various interior car components.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automotive) applications span textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery. Products include compressor shells, brackets, and water heater liners, along with chemical oil drums.
