What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process that primarily occurs after metal formation. This meticulous procedure involves immersing the metal into an acid known as pickling liquor, which efficiently cleans the surface. The acid type varies depending on the metal, with hydrochloric acid often used for low alloy steels. For metals with high acid resistance, a more potent acid or a two-step process may be necessary to achieve optimal cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with a thorough rinsing to eliminate large particles of dirt and debris. After rinsing, the metal is submerged in a pickling liquor bath. The acid within this solution diligently removes impurities from the metal's surface. To avoid overexposure, the metal is removed after a predetermined time, ensuring surface discontinuities are effectively eliminated with minimal metal loss. Post-pickling, the metal is rinsed once more and often undergoes an oiling process to enhance its finish.
The Application of pickling steel
1,Automotive industry applications include automotive chassis systems such as girders and auxiliary beams, wheels like rims and spokes, and cockpit panels. It also serves the carriage sector, particularly the bottoms of various truck carriages. Other parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and several small interior car components are also crafted using pickling steel.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) applications encompass textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and various general machinery. The process is also applied to compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Expanding beyond these industries, pickling steel is vital for producing other bicycle parts, numerous welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and numerous stamping parts of various shapes.
