The difference between Q235A and Q235B.
The subtle yet significant difference between Q235A and Q235B steels lies in their carbon composition. Both fall under the category of carbon steels, as per the national standard GB700-88. The distinction primarily pertains to the carbon content; Q235A features a carbon content ranging from 0.14-0.22%, offering unique properties tailored for specific structural applications.
Typically, steel mills meticulously mark the finished profiles on their identification plates before dispatch. This allows users to accurately determine whether the material is Q235A, Q235B, or other specified materials by examining the identification plate. These steels are suitable for design pressures up to P≤1.6MPa and operational temperatures ranging between 0~350ºC, with a steel plate thickness of at least 20mm.
