The difference between Q235A and Q235B lies in their carbon content, as both are types of carbon steels defined by the national standard GB700-88. Specifically, Q235A features a carbon content ranging from 0.14% to 0.22%, offering a slight variation in composition.
Typically, steel mills will mark the identification plates on finished profiles before dispatching them from the factory. Users can ascertain if the material is Q235A, Q235B, or another variety by examining the identification plates. These materials are suitable for design pressures up to 1.6MPa, operational temperatures between 0 and 350ºC, and a minimum steel plate thickness of 20mm.
