What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an advanced and essential metal surface cleaning technique predominantly employed post-metal formation. This meticulous process purifies the metal surface by immersing it in an acid solution, commonly referred to as the pickling liquor. The choice of acid depends on the specific metal type being treated; for the majority of low alloy steels, hydrochloric acid serves as the ideal choice. However, for metals exhibiting high acid resistance, more potent acids or a dual-step pickling approach may be necessary to ensure optimal cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
Prior to commencing the pickling procedure, the metal undergoes a preliminary rinse with a specialized solution to eliminate significant dirt and debris particles. Post-rinsing, the metal is submerged into a pickling liquor bath where the acid actively erodes impurities from the surface. To avert excessive acid exposure, the metal is extracted after a predetermined immersion duration. By utilizing the appropriate pickling liquor and adhering to the correct immersion period, surface irregularities are effectively removed with minimal metal depletion. The metal then undergoes a final rinse post-pickling and frequently proceeds to the 'oiling' phase, ensuring a pristine finish.

2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) utilizes pickling steel for a variety of applications, including textile machinery, mining machinery, fan components, and general machinery. It's also employed in the production of compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, pickling steel finds versatile applications in the production of bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelving, fences, iron ladders, and numerous stamping parts of assorted shapes.
