What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process, frequently utilized after metal shaping. It meticulously cleanses a metal surface by exposing it to an acid known as pickling liquor. The type of acid used in the pickling liquor is tailored to the specific metal being treated; for most low alloy steels, this is hydrochloric acid. For metals with high acid resistance, a more potent acid or an advanced two-step pickling method may be required to achieve optimal cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
To commence pickling, the metal is typically pre-rinsed with a solution to eradicate large particles of dirt and debris. Subsequently, the metal is immersed in a pickling liquor bath, where the acid diligently works to strip impurities from the surface. Upon reaching the predetermined immersion duration, the metal is extracted to avert overexposure to the acid. Employing the appropriate pickling liquor along with precise immersion timing ensures that surface discontinuities are eradicated with minimal metal loss. Following the pickling bath, the metal undergoes a subsequent rinse and often proceeds to an oiling process to enhance surface quality.
The Application of pickling steel
1,Automotive industry applications encompass: automotive chassis systems, including girders and auxiliary beams; wheels with rims and spokes; cockpit panels; and carriage components, predominantly the undersides of various truck carriages. Additional parts such as anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various small interior car components are also included.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) consists of textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery components, such as compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Diverse bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and numerous stamped parts of different configurations.
