What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a sophisticated metal surface cleansing process predominantly employed post metal formation. It meticulously purifies the metal surface by introducing it to an acid known as pickling liquor. The specific acid utilized hinges on the metal type, with hydrochloric acid being the standard choice for most low alloy steels. For metals exhibiting high acid resistance, a more potent acid or a dual-phase pickling technique might be necessitated to achieve optimal cleaning.
How is pickling performed?
Before beginning the pickling process, metal surfaces are typically rinsed with a solution to eliminate larger dirt and debris particles. Following this pre-cleaning stage, the metal is submerged in a bath of pickling liquor. During immersion, the acid efficiently strips away surface impurities. To avert overexposure, the metal is extracted after a predetermined time. With the appropriate pickling liquor and precise immersion duration, surface irregularities are meticulously removed with minimal metal loss. Post-pickling, the metal undergoes another rinse and frequently a subsequent oiling process.
The Application of pickling steel
1,Automotive industry applications include automotive chassis systems like girders and auxiliary beams, wheels such as rims and spokes, cockpit panels, and truck carriage bases. Moreover, it encompasses other stamped parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and miscellaneous small interior car components.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) applications encompass textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and various general machinery, including compressor shells, brackets, and water heater liners. Additionally, it includes chemical oil drums.
3, Additional applications include various bicycle parts, all types of welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and a variety of stamping parts.
