What is pickling steel?
Pickling refers to a sophisticated metal surface cleaning process predominantly employed post-metal formation. This meticulous technique involves immersing metal into an acid solution known as pickling liquor to achieve a pristine finish. The acid type in the pickling liquor varies according to the metal's composition, with hydrochloric acid commonly used for low alloy steels. For metals exhibiting high resistance to acids, more potent acids or a dual-stage pickling process might be necessary to attain optimal cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to eliminate large debris and grime. Subsequently, the metal is submerged in a pickling liquor bath, where the acid diligently purges the surface of impurities. Ensuring a precise immersion duration is crucial to avoiding excessive acid exposure. Proper acid selection and immersion timing are central to removing surface discontinuities effectively while minimizing metal loss. Post-pickling, the metal undergoes another rinse and is often treated with a process known as oiling to preserve the cleaned surface.
The Application of pickling steel

The wheels benefit significantly from pickling, including rims and spokes. Essential parts like the cockpit panel and the truck carriage bottom are also processed. Additionally, smaller components like anti-collision bumpers and brake sleeves within the car interior utilize this technique.
2, Machinery industry (non-automotive) applications cover textile machinery, mining machinery, and general machinery. Components such as compressor shells, brackets, and water heater liners are processed, alongside chemical oil drums.
3, Other applications extend to bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelving, fences, iron ladders, and a diverse array of stamping parts.
