Invar Alloy Steel Coil (Grade Ni36LNG) is a precision iron-nickel alloy containing approximately 36% nickel and very low carbon (≤0.03%). It features an ultra-low coefficient of thermal expansion, making it dimensionally stable from room temperature down to -196°C.
Unlike stainless steel, Invar contains no chromium — its unique properties come from the Fe-Ni balance, which eliminates thermal distortion in cryogenic environments.
This material is fully compliant with standard M3020 and specially developed for LNG membrane systems in ships and storage tanks, offering excellent weldability, high toughness, and long-term reliability at -163°C.
