What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process predominantly used after metal formation. This meticulous procedure involves cleaning a metal surface by immersing it in a specialized acid solution known as pickling liquor. The choice of acid depends on the metal type: for most low alloy steels, hydrochloric acid is preferred. For metals with high acid resistance, a stronger acid or a two-step pickling process may be required to achieve pristine cleanliness.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to eradicate large dirt particles. The metal is then submerged in a pickling liquor bath, where the acid eliminates surface impurities. After a designated immersion time, the metal is extracted to prevent excessive acid exposure. This precise timing and suitable pickling liquor ensure surface irregularities are removed with minimal metal wastage. Post-pickling, a thorough rinse is conducted, often followed by an oiling process to enhance protection.

1,Automotive industry applications include: automotive chassis systems like girders and auxiliary beams; wheels such as rims and spokes; cockpit panels; and truck carriage bases. Additionally, it covers various stamped parts, including anti-collision bumpers and interior components like brake sleeves.
2, Machinery industry applications (excluding automobiles) encompass textile machinery, mining machinery, and fans. It also includes components like compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, In other sectors, it applies to bicycle parts, welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and various stamped parts.
