What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a meticulous and vital metal surface cleaning process primarily conducted after a metal shape has been formed. It involves cleansing the metal surface by immersing it into an acidic solution known as the pickling liquor. The chemical makeup of the pickling liquor is tailored to the specific metal being treated, with hydrochloric acid being the predominant choice for most low alloy steels. For metals that exhibit high resistance to acids, a stronger acid or an enhanced two-step pickling method may be necessary to achieve impeccable cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
To initiate the pickling process, the metal is first rinsed with a solution designed to eliminate large particles of dirt and debris. Post-rinsing, the metal is submerged in a pickling liquor bath, where the acid actively removes surface impurities. It's critical to adhere to a designated immersion time limit to avert overexposure to the acid. With the appropriate pickling liquor and precise immersion duration, surface imperfections are efficiently eradicated with minimal metal loss. Upon extraction from the pickling bath, the metal undergoes another rinse, followed by a crucial oiling process to finalize the treatment.

Additionally, it covers other stamped parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various small interior car components.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) extensively utilizes pickling steel in textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery. It is essential for manufacturing compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
