What is pickling steel?
Pickling is an essential metal surface cleaning process frequently employed post-metal formation. This meticulous method involves immersing the metal in a specialized acid solution known as pickling liquor. The choice of acid in this solution varies based on the type of metal, with hydrochloric acid commonly used for low alloy steels. For metals with high acid resistance, more potent acids or a two-step pickling process may be necessary to achieve impeccable cleaning results.
How is pickling performed?
Before the pickling process, metals are usually rinsed with a solution to clear away significant dirt and debris. Subsequently, the metal enters a pickling liquor bath, where the acid meticulously cleans the surface impurities. After a specific immersion time, the metal is removed to prevent any potential overexposure to the acid. With the correct pickling liquor and immersion timing, surface irregularities are efficiently eliminated with minimal metal loss. Post pickling, metals are rinsed again and often proceed to an oiling stage to enhance their finish.
The Application of Pickling Steel
1,Automotive industry applications include: automotive chassis systems such as girders and auxiliary beams; wheel components, including rims and spokes; cockpit panels; the bottom frames of various truck carriages; and other stamped parts like anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various small interior car components.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) applications extend to textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and general machinery components. These include compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Additional applications include bicycle parts, a variety of welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and a diverse range of stamped parts.
