What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a specialized purification process used to cleanse metal surfaces, predominantly employed post-metal formation. This meticulous technique involves submerging the metal in an acid solution, termed as pickling liquor. The choice of acid varies with the metal type—though hydrochloric acid is prevalent for low alloy steels. For metals with a robust resistance to acidity, stronger acids or dual-phase pickling methods might be necessitated to attain optimal cleanliness.
How is pickling performed?
Prior to pickling, metals typically undergo a thorough rinse to eradicate large dirt and debris particles. Subsequently, they are submerged in a pickling liquor bath where the acid efficiently eradicates surface impurities. The immersion is precisely timed to avert overexposure, preserving the metal’s integrity while achieving a pristine surface. Post-acid bath, a final rinse is conducted, often followed by an oiling process to enhance surface protection.
The Application of pickling steel
1,Automotive industry applications include: automotive chassis systems like girders and auxiliary beams; wheels comprising rims and spokes; cockpit panels; and the undersides of various truck carriages. Additionally, pickling steel is used for other stamping parts such as anti-collision bumpers, brake sleeves, and various small interior components.
2, Machinery industry (excluding automobiles) applications encompass textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and miscellaneous general machinery. This includes compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, Diverse applications in other domains include bicycle parts, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelving, fences, iron ladders, and a vast array of stamping parts.
