What is pickling steel?
Pickling is a vital process in metal surface treatment, widely applied after metal formation. It meticulously cleans metal surfaces using an acid solution known as pickling liquor. The specific acid used is tailored to the metal type, with hydrochloric acid being prevalent for low alloy steels. For metals with high acid resistance, stronger acids or a two-step pickling process may be necessary to achieve optimal surface purity.
How is pickling performed?
The pickling process begins with an initial rinse to clear away large dirt and debris. After rinsing, the metal is submerged in a bath of pickling liquor. During immersion, the acid diligently removes impurities from the metal surface. After reaching the predetermined time, the metal is extracted to avoid excessive acid exposure, ensuring minimal metal degradation. A final rinse follows the pickling bath, and the metal typically undergoes an oiling process to enhance its finish and protection.
The Application of pickling steel

2, Machinery industry applications span textile machinery, mining machinery, fans, and other general machinery. Specific uses include compressor shells, brackets, water heater liners, and chemical oil drums.
3, other applications involve bicycle components, various welded pipes, electrical cabinets, highway guardrails, supermarket and warehouse shelves, fences, iron ladders, and uniquely shaped stamped parts.
