The distinction between Q235A and Q235B, both belonging to the carbon steel family, is primarily grounded in the carbon content differentiation as specified in national standard GB700-88. Q235A features a carbon content ranging from 0.14% to 0.22%, underscoring its unique material classification.
Typically, steel mills ensure that the finished profiles are clearly marked on identification plates prior to departing the factory. This enables users to discern whether the steel is Q235A, Q235B, or another variant. With a design pressure capped at P≤1.6MPa and operational temperatures spanning 0~350ºC, the steel plate's thickness is set at a minimum of 20mm.
