The Difference Between Q235A and Q235B
The distinction between Q235A and Q235B steels lies in their carbon content, both classified as carbon steels. According to the national standard GB700-88, Q235A features a carbon content ranging from 0.14-0.22%, differentiating it from Q235B. This subtle variance in carbon content impacts the steel's characteristics and potential applications.
Typically, before departing the factory, steel mills inscribe the identification plates on finished steel profiles. These identification plates enable users to discern whether the material is Q235A, Q235B, or any other classification. For Q235B, design pressure is P≤1.6MPa, operational temperature spans 0~350ºC, and steel plate thickness must be at least 20mm.
